Guide to
Wildlife Viewing
Look after your
own safety before looking at the wildlife - watch out for the
cliff edges and strong winds.
Find out what
the weather is going to do and wear the right footwear and
weatherproof clothing.
Take local advice or use an
accredited guide - they can help with the best places and the
best way to watch our wildlife
Learn about the wildlife to help protect it
Use binoculars - you'll see more and cause less disturbance
When approaching birds, do so slowly, quietly and with caution.
Back-off if they seem disturbed
For seal watching - you are too close if the seals start moving.
Let them approach you. Leave seal pups alone at all times
Respect all local people, farmers, land owners and other
wildlife watchers
Keep any dogs on a lead at all times. Watching wildlife with a
dog can be very frustrating for you and very stressful for the
wildlife
Leave these special places as you found them, for others like
yourself to enjoy
